The main briefing room was longer than it needed to be, a slab of rectangle built to intimidate. In the center, the holo-table projected a city map at shoulder height, the surface flexing and undulating as Juniper’s code spat out new overlays every half-second. The rest of the team drifted in, one by one, each with their own flavor of caffeination and sleep-deprivation. The air inside was colder than the lobby, and the hum of the tactical grid kept time with the tick of the quartz clock overhead.
