Chapter 4

The region was stretched out before us, barren and lifeless, every feature marked by desolation. Yet, despite the bleakness, the cluster of trees ahead offered modest refuge. Their tangled branches and sparse foliage would provide enough concealment for our immediate needs, shielding us from prying eyes and whatever else might lurk in this inhospitable landscape. For now, that meager cover was all we could ask for. And it wasn’t like the demons could see my barrier. As we moved, Legion helped me with a concealment spell. That would help going forward. In fact, the medallions that we were going to create for my mother, and her rebellion would work just fine for us. I discussed this with Legion and they agreed.
